History
Grizzly Base Camp, BSA was originally constructed on Montana School Land Trust property and was leased from the state for several decades.
In the early 2000s, local volunteers interested in improving the camp found that it was impossible to do so without gaining full ownership of the camp property.
OWNERSHIP
In 2004, after years of hard work by the Spratt and Williams families, a local Realtor, and thanks to a very generous donor, Montana Council BSA was able to purchase the property from the state in 2004 via a land swap.
PUBLIC USE
The camp is no longer public land. Public access for fishing, logging, 4 wheeling and other activities is not permitted.
The camp’s facilities, dining hall and the like are available to organizations, families and other groups on a rental basis at a nominal fee.
